Diet: FDA Announces Rule Prohibiting Sale of Dietary Supplements Containing Ephedrine Alkaloids

FDA) announced today that the final rule on dietary supplements containing ephedrine alkaloids is
effective immediately. The rule, which was published on February 11,
2004 in the Federal Register, declares dietary supplements
containing ephedrine alkaloids (ephedra) adulterated because such
supplements present an unreasonable risk of illness or injury.

Two manufacturers had asked the United States District Court in New
Jersey to enter a temporary injunction to prohibit FDA from
enforcing the rule. However, the court ruled today that it would not
immediately stay the rule. The court ordered the parties to submit
additional briefs so that it may decide whether to permanently stay
the rule

carbohydrates in the form of vegetables. The main premise of the
low-carb diet is that a diet low in carbohydrates leads to a
reduction in bodyÕs production of insulin. The end result is that
fat and protein stores will be used for energy. So you stuff
yourself full of unlimited amounts of meat, cheese, and butter, and
only eat a small portion of carbohydrates.

write on any surface, neglect worsening problems, omit to pay the

major companies seem to keep up with service and repairs to protect
resale value after one year. Even some pretty big problems can be

While these tasty sweeteners appear to be the perfect solution for

On May 26, 2004 A Florida businessman filed suit against
the makers of Atkins diet, based on low carb recipes, as
